Are there any health complications you can think of that signify
a bad diet?

Yes there are healthy issues or complications that would signify a “bad diet.” They include inflammation, brain fog, weight gain and even depression. A bad diet to me is not one that is high in calories or other macronutrients because some people demand larger portions. A “bad diet” it is one that is high in processed ingredients, preservatives, sugar, and chemicals. A “good diet” is a balanced diet that consists of whole unprocessed foods that do not typically come out of a bag, bottle, box, can, etc. Even if a health complication requires weight gain it can be done with healthy foods rich in heart healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, protein and unprocessed grains.


What are some physical, mental, and emotional symptoms people experience as a result of eating poorly?

A poor diet is typically higher in processed carbohydrates, unhealthy fats, sugars and additives. Physically the spikes and falls in insulin resulting in poor energy and can leave one feeling depressed and not motivated to do active things like exercise resulting in weight gain, low performance, and decreased lean muscle mass.


Mentally, processed junk foods can cause a “brain fog” which can disrupt the creative part of the brain and one’s overall ability to concentrate and be productive.


Emotionally, a diet that is unhealthy can cause weight gain, excess weight can result in depression, low self-esteem, or even an eating disorder such as bulimia or binge eating disorder.


What are some ways to alleviate them?

Adopt a healthy balanced diet that focuses on heart healthy fats like nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut oil, etc. in addition to quality protein from grass fed beef, free range poultry, wild caught fish and fibrous carbohydrates, mainly from vegetables and fruits. In addition to a balanced diet avoiding high sugar drinks like soda, juice, sports drinks, etc can eliminate symptoms.
